Child hit by car in Allerton Bywater during Leeds morning rush hour as police seal off street

Police and paramedics raced to a street in Leeds this morning (Tues) after a child was hit by a car.

A large emergency services response was spotted in Preston Lane, Allerton Bywater, shortly before 9am today. Police erected a large cordon and began diverting traffic away from the area as investigation works took place.

Now, West Yorkshire Police (WYP) have confirmed a child was injured after being knocked down by a car in the street at 8.20am.

The child suffered injuries which are not thought to be serious.

A spokesperson for WYP said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a child on Preston Lane, Allerton Bywater, at 08.20am today.

"Officers attended. The child suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident."
