Child gang throw homemade firebombs at Dublin tennis courts in Kingswood

A gang of kids were spotted throwing home made petrol bombs into a Kingswood tennis court.

Described as "Local anti-social behaviour", the incident was reported to the Kingswood Residents Association by a witness.

The homemade firebombs were thrown yesterday evening.

The witness said: "I was walking by the tennis courts last night approx 6pm and 4/5 small lads (about 12) throwing petrol bombs into the tennis courts."

A video showing the damage to the court was sent by the witness.

Ash and broken bottles litter the tennis court, while small flames are visible in the aftermath of the firebombs being launched.

Independent councillor Mick Duff was shocked when he heard of the anti-social activity.

He told Dublin Live: "The tennis courts are up for refurbishment. But that's very out of character for the area. There's a shopping centre nearby so there's always a bit of anti-social behaviour, but that's a step too far.

"Kingswood is a very stable community, they're good working class and middle class people, with a hardworking resident's association.

"There's lots of activities for youths there like the scouts. I'm shocked that's actually happened."

Another incident was reported to Kingswood Resident's Association last night, where an abandoned car was discovered near a local playground.

The witness claims the car belonged to a Domino's driver, who had his car stolen.

They said: "Terrible. At least he will get his car back but he is very shook up."
