Child exploitation website administrator pleads guilty

Mark Anthony Gray pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

An Adelaide paedophile has pleaded guilty to multiple child sex charges, including possessing and disseminating child exploitation material.

Mark Anthony Gray, 56, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court via video link.

Gray, from Wynn Vale in Adelaide's north-east, was arrested in May by the SA Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET).

At the time, police alleged he was using a social networking app to spread child exploitation material.

Gray admitted to multiple counts of being an administrator of a website used to distribute child exploitation material.

The court heard some of the victims of the abuse were under the age of 14, meaning the offences were aggravated.

Gray's crimes occurred between November 2018 and May 2020.

His early guilty plea means he is eligible to have his sentence reduced by up to 40 per cent.

The Lower House of SA Parliament earlier this week passed legislation to reduce that discount for serious violent and sexual offenders who admit their crimes, to 25 per cent.

But the bill has yet to pass through the Upper House.

Gray will next face the District Court in November.
