Child dies after she was hit by car in Nottinghamshire as man is arrested

  • A young girl tragically died in hospital after being struck by a car in the Nottinghamshire village of Gotham on Sunday afternoon.
  • The incident occurred just before 2.30pm on Nottingham Road, with Nottinghamshire Police confirming the girl died a short time later.
  • A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the fatal collision.
  • The arrested man has since been questioned by police and subsequently released on bail as the investigation progresses.
  • Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to assist their inquiry, while urging the public to respect the family's privacy and avoid speculation.
