A child has died after being struck by a car in the carpark of a sports ground in the southern Perth suburb of Maddington.
The six-year-old boy was hit by a hatchback shortly after 6:30pm on Tuesday, police said.
St John Ambulance were called to the scene but the child could not be saved.
The accident happened at Harmony Fields, a popular sporting ground used by cricket and football clubs that includes an enclosed dog park, on Alcock Street.
An area of the carpark has been cordoned off and detectives from Major Crash are investigating.
The driver of the hatchback was a 31-year-old woman who is assisting police with their inquiries.
Major Crash investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the hatchback or the boy prior to it.
