Child dies after being hit by ute at service station

The child was hit by the car at a Caboolture North service station.

A three-year-old girl has died after being hit by a ute at a service station on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane on Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened at a service station carpark at Caboolture North just after 5:00pm.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said several crews were at the scene and CPR was carried out on the child for some time.

BP shared its condolences on Facebook, saying staff were "deeply saddened" by what had occurred.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved," the post read.

"We will fully support the police investigation in any way we can."

Meanwhile, an 89-year-old woman was killed after a car collided with her mobility scooter on the Sunshine Coast.

The accident happened on Hilton Esplanade at Noosa at 1:00pm.

The Tewantin woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition but could not be saved.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating both deaths.
