Boy and mother rescued from river after frantic search in Aberystwyth

A boy has been rescued from a river in Aberystwyth after apparently falling into the water.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning in an area near Heol Y Bont to the south of the town centre.

A rescue helicopter was seen flying overhead in the area, and police, RNLI crews, Coastguard teams and firefighters have all been at the scene.

The incident is believed to have happened shortly before 11.45am, and, according to police, involved a child and their parent.

Both have now been recovered from the River Rheidol, which runs through the town, and are being checked by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service at the scene.
