Child, 6, rushed to hospital after car smashes into tree

A six-year-old child has been taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital after a car smashed into a tree and wall this morning.

The young passenger was injured after the Renault Scenic left the road in Lorenzo Drive in Norris Green around 8.30am today.

Pictures from an ECHO reader show the aftermath of the crash with the car visibly crumpled at the front and side and a wall and gate of a property on the street significantly damaged.

Merseyside Police say "early indications suggest there are no serious injuries" but ambulance officials confirmed the child was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The man driving the car cooperated with police at the scene and a breath test proved negative.

It is not known whether he needed hospital treatment.

"There were two patients, a male and six-year-old child. The driver had a negative breath test and there is no suggestion he had been drinking.
