A two-year-old toddler has tragically died after two cars collided in a horrific crash in the Scottish Highlands.
Iain Mackay, from Wick was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow after the car he was travelling in smashed into another vehicle on the A99 road in the far north of Scotland.
Despite doctors' best efforts to save him young Ian died as a result of his injuries.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Sunday afternoon to find the wreckage of a blue Peugeot 208 and a blue Nissan Qashqai, the Daily Record reports.
Three women were also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver, 25, and passenger, 26, from the Peugeot were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The 44-year-old woman in the Nissan is in a serious condition at Raigmore Hostpital in Inverness.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They said there were a number of motorists who assisted at the scene who they would like to speak to.
A police statement read: “Three women also sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to please assist our enquiries, as we work to establish the full circumstances.
"If you were in the area and may have seen either of the cars involved, or have possible dashcam footage which could help our investigation, please get in touch with police.”
Police have urged anyone with information to call them on 101, quoting incident number 2828 and the date of August 22.
