Girl, 2, rushed to hospital after being struck by car on Scots road

A two-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in Greenock this afternoon.

Emergency services scrambled to East Hamilton Street at the junction with Douglas Rae Road after the accident happened at around 3.50pm on Sunday, August 29.

Ambulance crews attended and the little girl was blue lighted to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment.

The child's condition is not yet known.

Police have closed the road between Ratho Street and Sinclair Street and huge tailbacks have been reported.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a two-year-old child having been struck by a car on East Hamilton Street at the junction with Douglas Rae Road in Greenock around 3.50pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

"The child has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

"The road is closed between Ratho Street and Sinclair Street.”
