March 14--Four people including a 14-year-old, a woman and two 18-year-old men were wounded Friday afternoon in separate shootings on the city's Far South, South and West sides, police said.
The latest shooting happened about 6:50 p.m. in the 6100 block of Stony Island Avenue in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood, police said, citing preliminary information.
The victim is a 14-year-old who was shot in the leg but did not suffer life threatening injuries, according to a source. The victim was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, the srouce said.
Officers remain on the scene. Check back for details.
Earlier, about 2:30 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Langley Avenue, another shooting occurred, said Chicago police spokesman Officer Veejay Zala.
According to Zala, an 18-year-old man was riding in a vehicle when he heard shots and then felt pain.
He suffered a leg wound and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
A woman was wounded shortly after 1 p.m. in the 900 block of East 131st Street in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood, said Chicago police spokesman Officer Jose Estrada.
According to preliminary information, the 34-year-old was sitting outside on a bench when she heard shots and soon after felt pain, Estrada said.
The woman, who suffered wounds to the buttocks, was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Estrada said.
Earlier Friday, an 18-year-old shot himself in the leg in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
That shooting happened about 12:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Kedzie Avenue, Estrada said.
The teen suffered a leg wound and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, he said.
No one was in custody for any of the attacks, and police were investigating.
