Child, 13, taken to hospital after being hit by car at one of Manchester's busiest junctions

A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at one of south Manchester's busiest junctions.

The 13 year-old was struck by a car at the junction of Wilbraham Road and Princess Road, near Whalley Range, during the morning rush hour on Friday.

Police said they were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a bicycle at around 8:50am.

Paramedics attended along with officers and the boy, was taken to hospital for treatment.

However a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokeswoman said today their injuries are not life threatening or life-changing.

Emergency services remained at the scene into Friday afternoon with an officer directing traffic around the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries, which are ongoing the spokeswoman added.
