Child, 12, dies with coronavirus as 157 new deaths announced in England

A 12 year old child was among 157 people recorded as having died with coronavirus in hospitals across England today.

The child, who had underlying health conditions, was the youngest of the victims in figures announced by NHS England, with the oldest patient aged 100.

Of those 157 victims, seven had no underlying health condition, and they were aged between 57 and 88.

The new deaths, all of patients who had tested positive for COVID-19, brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 25,545.

Of the deaths reported today, 23 occurred in the North West, while the North East & Yorkshire was the hardest hit region recording 36 deaths.
