Child, 11, dies with coronavirus - latest UK hospital deaths

An 11-year-old child with underlying health conditions has died with coronavirus.

The latest Government figures show another 164 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in English hospitals to 84,631.

Patients were aged between 11 and 100 years old. Eight people, aged between 49 to 87 years old, had no underlying health conditions.

The South West recorded a further 15 fatalities today (March 9) - the joint second-lowest total of any region in the country.

Dates of deaths ranged from 20 December 2020 to 8 March, with the majority being on or after 4 March.

Their families have been informed.

The number of deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

  • East of England - 20
  • London - 15
  • Midlands - 29
  • North East & Yorkshire - 37
  • North West - 35
  • South East – 13
  • South West - 15

One death was confirmed in Somerset on Monday, while no Covid fatalities were reported in Bristol or Gloucestershire.

Nineteen deaths were reported in Scotland today, three in Wales and two in Northern Ireland.
