Child, 10, dies with coronavirus as NHS announces 353 more fatalities

A 10-year-old child has died with coronavirus, according to the latest NHS figures released today.

NHS England said on Tuesday a further 353 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 38,865.

Data showed patients were aged between 10 and 100.

All except nine, aged between 31 and 90, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between October 24 and November 23, with the majority on or after November 21.

14 other deaths were reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

Scotland has also recorded 41 deaths from coronavirus and 771 positive tests in the past 24 hours, latest figures show.

It brings the death toll under this measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - to 3,544.

The Scottish Government statistics show 90,081 people have now tested positive in Scotland, up from 89,310 the previous day.

The daily figures come after Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night outlined his winter plan to get through the pandemic.

The PM confirmed details of how people across the UK would be able to spend the festive period as talks continue with the devolved administrations.

All four UK nations are set to meet for a Cobra committee on Tuesday afternoon to discuss plans for easing curbs over Christmas.
