Chikara Karate Club open their doors to new dojo in Lanarkshire

A new karate facility has opened up its doors in Carfin, Motherwell.

Chikara Karate Club have made their return to what they have called their “spiritual home” in Cleland Road.

The new facility has allowed kids and adults from across Lanarkshire to leave behind the old Cathedral Primary premises in Motherwell and attend ‘The Dojo’.

Sensei Lawrence Clifford said: “It’s a dream come true to get back to Carfin.

“That’s where I started training, so it feels like I am back at my spiritual home. We have classes for people of all ages and will be welcoming in beginners. We also have experienced members who will be competing in tournaments this year.

“We expect a busy year for the whole club now that the dojo is set up.

“I have always wanted to have my own dojo so hopefully we can continue to provide for the area.”

Those willing to try out the martial art sport this January the club are offering three classes for only £10.

The club also have open days planned and Lawrence along with his son Jason urged locals to keep an eye on their Facebook page at ‘Chikara Karate Club’.
