Chiene + Tait names new director as corporate team celebrates year of £200m deals

The corporate finance team at Chiene + Tait has celebrated guiding more than £200 million of deals in the last year.

The team marked its third birthday in October, having been formed in 2016 when Paul Mason joined as a partner and has completed more than 20 significant deals.

High-profile transactions last summer included advising US gene therapy company AskBio on its acquisition of Scottish biotech firm Synpromics and assisting digital marketing agency QueryClick on its £2 million equity investment led by Archangels. The combined enterprise value of deals totalled more than £200 million.

Jonathan Griffiths, one of the C+T corporate finance division’s senior members, has now been promoted to director. After beginning his career in his native Glasgow, he broadened his corporate finance experience in Brisbane, Australia and returned home in 2017 to join the C+T team as a manager.

The corporate team has grown to four, with a fifth colleague due to start in March. The team has also enjoyed early success with their corporate finance internship programme, which offers one university student each year a taste of the deals market before committing to their eventual career.

Mason, head of the corporate finance team, said: “We‘re pleased to have surpassed the £200 million deal value level in a relatively short timescale. I’m also delighted to announce Jonathan’s promotion to director level. He is an exceptional colleague who has been central in my ability to build a strong practice which has brought added quality to the M&A and advisory market here in Scotland.

"As we continue to welcome new colleagues during 2020, we look forward to supporting clients and helping generate further economic growth throughout Scotland and beyond.”
