Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill to attend offseason workouts

The Chiefs begin their offseason workout program today.

There was some speculation that wide receiver Tyreek Hill would not report at the start of the offseason workout program. It wasn’t for the typical reason of contract negotiation struggles, though. This speculation was driven by the circumstances surrounding the Kansas Department for Children and Families investigation into a child abuse incident at his home.

Hill will be in attendance for the start of the offseason program, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Multiple reports have since confirmed that Hill plans to attend offseason workouts. Why would Hill attend the start of the offseason program with this ongoing situation? Simply put, it’s his job. Hill hasn’t been charged with a crime, and the NFL will not pass judgment until the investigation has concluded.

The Chiefs have their first wave of offseason media availability today, and while you can expect to hear from many players, I wouldn’t expect Hill to be on the slate. Chiefs coach Andy Reid will likely have to field questions about Hill, and I can’t imagine he’ll provide any satisfactory answers about the situation. In fact he’ll probably echo some of the words I’ve written above.

As of now, Hill remains a member of the Chiefs, so they’ll proceed as if nothing has changed.
