Weather forecast: Prepare for rain for Chiefs vs. Ravens

The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens may have to do battle with Mother Nature on Sunday.

It looks like the home opener could be played amid heavy rain, strong winds and a chance of thunderstorms. Forecasts from Weather.com, AccuWeather and the National Weather Service show that it is going to be wet in Kansas City, Missouri, from kickoff and potentially all the way through the fourth quarter. There’s a chance the rain tapers off in the first quarter, but it could also stick around.

Predictions range from 80% to 100% chance of rain throughout the game. Winds are expected to face the south at kickoff and could reach up to 18 mph gusts. A total of one to two inches of rainfall is expected throughout the day. There could also be thunderstorms, which could delay the game.

Another thing to keep in mind if you’re traveling to the game: There is a flash flood watch in effect for Kansas City until the evening on Sunday, when storms move further east. This could impact road conditions on the way to the game. Check the Missouri Department of Transportation website for any closures or delays on the way to Arrowhead Stadium.
