Chiefs Week 4 injury designations: 3 starters ruled OUT

The Kansas City Chiefs have declared their injury designations for their Week 4 matchup with the Detroit Lions.

Ruled OUT

LT Eric Fisher (groin)

WR Tyreek Hill (shoulder)

RB Damien Williams (knee)

All three are starters and will impact the Chiefs offense, but so far, it has hardly slowed down, despite needing to rely on the next man up.

Fisher will be replaced by Cameron Irving — a former first-round selection of the Cleveland Browns — who showed well in pass blocking last week but struggled in the run game.

Hill’s production has been replaced by rookie Mecole Hardman who has shown the ability to be a game-breaker. The Chiefs will find multiple ways to get the ball in his hands and let him fly.

Williams will likely be replaced by a committee of backs, most notably LeSean McCoy, who is also injured but doesn’t carry an injury designation into this game.

No injury designation

RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday but returned to full practices on Thursday and Friday. With Williams ruled out, McCoy will likely step into a starting role and may split time with Darrel Wiliams and Darwin Thompson — as was the case last week.

Additionally, the Chiefs have four starters banged up — QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle), DE Emmanual Ogbah (shoulder), CB Bashaud Breeland (knee) and CB Charvarius Ward (Achilles) — but all have been full participants this week and don’t carry an injury designation into the game, indicating they are good to play.
