Chiefs waive RB John David Moore, claim OG Zack Golditch

The Kansas City Chiefs made a pair of moves on Friday, waiving one player and signing another.

According to the NFL’s transaction report the Chiefs waived former LSU RB John David (J.D.) Moore, who spent the entire 2018 season on injured reserve. The addition of undrafted free agents Marcus Marshall and James Williams made Moore expendable in Kansas City. The roster space that was cleared by Moore was quickly filled back up when the Chiefs claimed OG Zack Golditch off waivers from Arizona.

Golditch spent his rookie season in 2018 bouncing around several different teams before landing with the Cardinals. He entered the league out of Colorado State as an undrafted free agent with the Chargers and played with them throughout the entire preseason.

In college he had a fair amount of versatility, playing four different positions along the offensive line. He earned first-team All-Mountain West selection at Colorado State. At 6-5 and 295 pounds, Golditch is a good fit for the Chiefs’ blocking scheme, and should be able to provide that same versatility in the NFL.

One thing that Golditch also brings with him is an inspirational story. He is a survivor of the movie theater shooting that occurred in Aurora, Colorado in 2012. He was injured during the shooting, taking a bullet in the neck, narrowly missing vital organs. He worked his way back and made his college football debut with Colorado State in 2014.

The addition of Golditch brings the Chiefs offseason total of offensive linemen up to 14 players, which is the most of any position group on the team.
