Chiefs waive center Tejan Koroma

The Kansas City Chiefs have spent this weekend rounding out their 90-man roster. Signing a new wave of undrafted free agents typically means that some players currently on the roster will be released in order to make room.

The Chiefs placed center Tejan Koroma on waivers Monday according to the NFL’s transaction report. Koroma joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL draft out of BYU. He spent all of the 2018 season on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury during offseason training with the team.

Koroma held the position of the No. 2 center for the Chiefs throughout much of the offseason program in 2018. There was some belief that he would have made the active roster had he not been injured. Now, it appears that the Chiefs feel comfortable and confident with their interior offensive line depth and that his 90-man roster spot would be better suited elsewhere.

This certainly improves the chances that seventh-round pick Nick Allegretti could make some early contributions along the offensive interior, specifically at the center position. Veach even praised him as someone that could push for starting playing time during his recent post-draft conference call.
