Chiefs vs. Bengals preseason Week 1 pre-game Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals are set to face off in the first preseason game of the 2019 season for either team.

Several players from both squads won’t play tonight. There is no official inactive list during the preseason, so these are players who haven’t dressed or have unofficially been declared out by the respective teams. Even though these preseason games don’t hold a lot of meaning, these absences will certainly impact the outcome of the game.

Here are the players who won’t play for the Chiefs:

  • RB Damien Williams
  • DE Alex Okafor
  • DE Frank Clark
  • DE Tim Ward
  • LB Darius Harris

It’s not surprising that Williams, Okafor and Clark won’t play. All three have been dealing with injuries, albeit minor ones, and the Chiefs will look to preserve them. Getting back on the practice field is more important for these players than this game is. Both Ward and Harris have yet to practice for the Chiefs due to injury, so they’re unlikely to play.

Here are the players who won’t play for the Bengals:

  • WR John Ross
  • WR AJ Green
  • CB Darqueze Dennad
  • CB William Jackson
  • RB Gio Bernard
  • RB Joe Mixon
  • RB Rodney Anderson
  • DE Carl Lawson
  • DT Geno Atkins
  • OG Alex Redmond
  • OL Jonah Williams

Several of these players had already been ruled out by Bengals HC Zac Taylor earlier this week. The big surprise here is CB William Jackson. He hasn’t missed any practice time, but it sounds like he may have injured himself during the last day of practice for the Bengals.
