Chiefs to wear red-on-red uniforms Sunday night vs. Colts

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that players will be wearing an alternate jersey for their Sunday night game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.

Everyone’s favorite red-on-red color combination is returning for the first time in the 2019 season. The NFL implemented a new rule ahead of the 2018 season that allows teams to wear alternate uniforms up to three times during a season. This will mark the first time the Chiefs have worn an alternate jersey this season.

It’s not clear whether the Chiefs will debut any new jersey for their 60th anniversary season. The other alternate uniform they wore last season was the white-on-white jersey for the Rams game.

The Chiefs last wore their red-on-red alternate jerseys for the Thursday game football against the Las Angeles Chargers in 2018. The Chiefs are 5-4 all-time while wearing red-on-red uniforms since they debuted in 2013. It’s still a winning record, but if you’re the superstitious type, you might be a bit concerned this week.

Their last win while wearing the red-on-red combination came in Week 7 last year against the Cincinnati Bengals.
