Chiefs stash WR Jamire Jordan on injured reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially placed their first player on injured reserve during the 2019 league year.

The Chiefs recently announced a bunch of roster moves following their rookie minicamp, which included the decision to waive Fresno State WR Jamire Jordan with an injury designation.

It’s not clear what the injury was to the player, but the Chiefs clearly like him. According to the NFL’s transaction report on Wednesday, Jordan reverted to injured reserve and no longer counts against the 90-man roster limit.

There’s a lot of the Chiefs to like about Jordan, he’s a standout athlete who posted amazing numbers during his pro day. Check them out:

The biggest question about Jordan coming into the NFL was his ability to stay healthy at his 5-9 and 170 pound size. He’s not off to a great start answering those questions, but the Chiefs still think there’s a skill set worth developing here. His athleticism is undeniable as evidenced by his pro day numbers.

Statistically speaking, Jordan’s 2018 season with Fresno State was his least productive season. He only had 434 yards on 27 receptions, including three touchdown catches. There’s some big upside to Jordan’s game as a return specialist too.

For the time being Jordan will remain on injured reserve, but the Chiefs could reach an injury settlement with Jordan at a later date. It’s also possible that he stays on injured reserve the entire season and we won’t see him again until next year.
