Chiefs sign DB Harold Jones-Quartey

The Chiefs have announced a free agent signing on Thursday.

Free agent defensive back Harold Jones-Quartey has joined the team. Jones-Quartey formerly played for the Arizona Cardinals, who he signed with as undrafted free agent after the 2015 NFL draft. He played college ball at the University of Finlay in Ohio.

Jones-Quartey has actually played three career games against the Chiefs. One with the Cardinals during the 2015 preseason. Two with the Bears over the course of the 2015 season and 2016 preseason. During those three games he’s totaled 16 tackles and played strong safety and special teams.

Jones-Quartey hasn’t started a game since the 2016 season. His last game was with the Chicago Bears in Week 16 of 2016. During the 2018 season, Jones-Quartey wasn’t on a roster or practice squad. His last NFL job came on the Eagles practice squad during their Super Bowl LII run.

This signing screams of a high upside camp body. He’ll likely be competing for a back end spot, but he’ll provide good competition for a safety group that was lackluster for the Chiefs in 2018.
