Chiefs shut down Vikings’ offensive playmakers

The Vikings offense has been electric over the last month, and that’s a big reason why the team was 4-0 over that stretch.

On Sunday against the Chiefs, Minnesota’s offense looked lost. Wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) was active, but he aggravated his hamstring early and didn’t make it past the first quarter.

That certainly hurt, but the Chiefs, who aren’t known for their defense, did a very nice job of neutralizing Minnesota’s offense.

Stefon Diggs had just one catch for four yards to go with a run for 11 yards. Dalvin Cook had 71 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards, but he averaged just 3.4 yards per carry. Kirk Cousins threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw 19 incomplete passes, more than the last two weeks combined.

The Vikings fell 26-23 on a last-second field goal. Minnesota is now 6-3 on the season. Probably nothing to freak out about. Kansas City, even without Patrick Mahomes, is a very good team. But things don’t get any easier next week when the Vikings travel to play the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
