The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense has only been on the field for just under five minutes and they’ve already lost a key player to injury.
Lucas Niang got his second consecutive start at right tackle today, filling in for an injured Mike Remmers. On a six-yard run to the right side in the red zone, Niang suffered an apparent injury. He walked off the field gingerly and needed assistance from the training staff. It’s unclear exactly what happened with Niang, but he had some defenders land on him awkwardly on the run.
The Chiefs are now down to their third-string right tackle. With both Remmers and Prince Tega Wanogho inactive, the Chiefs relied on Andrew Wylie to fill in at the right tackle position. The last time Wylie played right tackle for the Chiefs was in the Super Bowl LV loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This injury could leave Kansas City dangerously thin at the tackle position. Should the Chiefs suffer another injury at that spot they might need to resort to moving a playing like Joe Thuney or Trey Smith out to the tackle position.
Wylie was still in the game on the Chiefs’ second offensive drive, but the team has yet to rule out Niang. He has been deemed questionable with a rib injury for the time being. We’ll keep you posted on any developments here.
