Chiefs' return for trading Marcus Peters is two draft picks

The Chiefs spent three-plus weeks attempting to deal cornerback Marcus Peters, only to find two teams _ the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers _ with major interest.

On Friday, the club reached an agreement to send the star cornerback to the Los Angeles Rams, and on Monday, their return on the trade finally leaked, as they've received a fourth-round pick this year and a second-round pick in 2019 in exchange for a 2018 sixth-round pick and two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Rams' fourth-round pick this year falls 124th overall, giving the Chiefs six picks total this year, including a second, two thirds, a fourth, a sixth and a seventh.

The trade also gives the two second-round picks next year and four in the top 100 as they attempt to build a leaner, younger roster fueled by impressive rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes and what the Chiefs hope will be a faster, more dynamic defense.

The trade cannot be finalized until the start of the new league year on March 14.
