The Kansas City Chiefs released their second official depth chart for 2019.
For the most part there are no big changes from the first depth chart. Keep in mind that these are generally assembled by the team’s PR staff and not the coaching staff. They are unofficial and are not set in stone. You have to take them with a grain of salt because of that.
The team will continue to release depth charts ahead of each preseason game, but don’t expect them to reflect much more than additions and subtractions from the roster.
Take a look at the second depth chart below with some observations below:

Offense
| Pos. | First | Second | Third | Fourth |
| QB | Patrick Mahomes | Chad Henne | Chase Litton | Kyle Shurmur |
| RB | Damien Williams | Carlos Hyde | Darrel Williams | Darwin Thompson; Josh Caldwell; Marcus Marshall; Tremon Smith |
| FB | Anthony Sherman | John Lovett | ||
| WR | Tyreek Hill | Demarcus Robinson | Gehrig Dieter | Rashard Davis; Cody Thompson; Felton Davis; Jody Fortson |
| WR | Sammy Watkins | Mecole Hardman | Byron Pringle | Marcus Kemp; Jamal Custis; Davon Grayson |
| TE | Travis Kelce | Deon Yelder | Blake Bell | Nick Keizer; John Lovett |
| LT | Eric Fisher | Cameron Erving | Dino Boyd | |
| LG | Andrew Wylie | Nick Allegretti | Abdul Beecham | Zack Golditch |
| C | Austin Reiter | Jimmy Murray | ||
| RG | Laurent Duvernay-Tardif | Kahlil McKenzie | Ryan Hunter | |
| RT | Mitchell Schwartz | Pace Murphy | Chidi Okeke |
Observations:
- The only change to the offensive depth chart is that David Wells is no longer with the team. He was previously the No. 5 tight end behind Nick Keizer.
- Chase Litton is still listed as the No. 3 QB even though Kyle Shurmur got snaps ahead of Litton in preseason Week 1.
- The Chiefs released RB Josh Caldwell last night and signed TE Manasseh Garner. That move didn’t happen before they released this depth chart, so it isn’t reflected on it. Expect that change to come in preseason Week 3.

Defense
| Pos. | First | Second | Third | Fourth |
| LDE | Alex Okafor | Breeland Speaks | Emmanuel Ogbah | |
| LDT | Chris Jones | Xavier Williams | Khalen Saunders | Cavon Walker |
| RDT | Derrick Nnadi | Justin Hamilton | Joey Ivie | |
| RDE | Frank Clark | Tanoh Kpassagnon | Rob McCray | |
| WLB | Anthony Hitchens | Darron Lee | Dorian O’Daniel | D’Juan Hines |
| MLB | Reggie Ragland | Ben Niemann | Raymond Davison | Darius Harris |
| SLB | Damien Wilson | Jeremiah Attaochu | ||
| LCB | Kendall Fuller | Charvarius Ward | Herb Miller | Mark Fields; Michael Hunter; Keith Reaser |
| RCB | Bashaud Breeland | D’Montre Wade | Rashad Fenton | Dakari Monroe; Morris Claiborne |
| FS | Daniel Sorensen | Juan Thornhill | Harold Jones-Quartey | |
| SS | Tyrann Mathieu | Jordan Lucas | Armani Watts | Andrew Soroh |
Observations:
- I can tell you with utmost confidence that Morris Claiborne will not be the No. 5 CB. He’s still getting his feet under him for the Chiefs, but he’ll be on this team in 2019 and likely working as a starter or primary backup.
- Hunter Dimick played in the Chiefs’ preseason game on Saturday, yet is not reflected in the new depth chart. Not sure if this is an oversight or if we can expect another move soon.
- The above may have something to do with Keith Reaser still being on the depth chart even though he’s been sent to injured reserve.
- S Juan Thornhill may be practicing with the first team, but you won’t find it reflected in these depth charts. It just goes to show you that they aren’t the best way to learn about the Chiefs and their plans during the preseason.

Special teams
| Pos. | First | Second | Third | Fourth |
| P | Dustin Colquitt | Jack Fox | ||
| K | Harrison Butker | Dustin Colquitt | ||
| KO | Harrison Butker | Dustin Colquitt | ||
| LS | James Winchester | |||
| H | Dustin Colquitt | |||
| PR | Tyreek Hill | Mecole Hardman | ||

Observations:
- Special teams is status quo from the last depth chart. I don’t expect much change here unless there is an injury or a big acquisition.
