Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reacts to XFL’s double forward pass rule

In yesterday’s XFL meeting between the Dallas Renegades and the Seattle Dragons, fans saw one of their new rules in action for the first time.

Renegades QB Landry Jones threw a pass and saw it batted right back into his hands. In the NFL, the QB would be forced to run with the ball, but in the XFL he’s allowed to throw another forward pass so long as the ball remains behind the line of scrimmage on the first pass.

So what does Jones do? He roll’s to his right and delivers a 15-yard strike to his RB Lance Dunbar. Check the play out down below:

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was watching the game and shared his excitement over this play on Twitter. His teammate Mitchell Schwartz was also watching the game and the two shared a similar initial reaction to the play from Jones and Dunbar.

Chiefs players seem to like this specific gameplay innovation from the XFL, even if it feels slightly unnatural to them. So what do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Should the two forward pass gimmick stick to the XFL or should it be allowed in the NFL too? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook, Twitter and the Chiefs Wire forums.
