Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes quickest in NFL history to 90 career passing touchdowns

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has continued adding to his ever-growing list of broken NFL records. Earlier this season he became the quickest player to 10,000 career passing yards. This time the record is all about passing touchdowns for Mahomes.

With a touchdown pass to TE Travis Kelce in the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes has reached 90 career touchdown passes in just 37 career games played. According to the NFL’s research department, that number breaks the record in the Super Bowl era for the fewest games to hit 90 career passing touchdowns. It took Hall of Famer Dan Marino 40 games to reach that mark.

Mahomes has since added another touchdown pass to Kelce, bringing the total to 91 for the young gunslinger. He’s approaching the 100 career touchdown mark and could also become the fastest player to do so. Marino also holds that record, with 100 passing touchdowns in 44 career games. If Mahomes can notch just nine touchdown passes in the next six games, he’ll hold that record too.

Keep in mind that this game isn’t over yet and the Chiefs are seemingly moving the ball at will on the Bills. It’s likely that we could see Mahomes get a whole lot closer to that record by the end of this game.
