Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gives a review of Sunday’s jump shot touchdown pass

A highlight game-changing play from Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes isn’t unusual since he entered the league in 2017. The bright lights of Sunday night football were the perfect setting for another Mahomes classic, as his second-quarter touchdown pass to Clyde Edwards-Helaire was a viral moment on Twitter.

The Chiefs would go on to defeat Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41-31, but it was the play that kept people talking with the quarterback duel took a backseat. Mahomes shared his thoughts on the now-infamous play after re-watching the game film while speaking with 610 Sports Radio’s Carrington Harrison for his weekly interview.

“I saw the film on the plane ride back after,” said Mahomes. “It was way cooler than I thought it was at the moment. I thought it was a little chest pass to him, but when I saw the spin and jump shot throw I made, I even was like, man, this is pretty cool… I always think the plays in the bigger moments are always bigger. It definitely was a cool one.”

Mahomes finished the game with 249 passing yards surpassing the 20,000 yards milestone in the process to go along with three touchdowns. He was shown practicing his basketball skills before kickoff, so it appears this could’ve always been part of his repertoire.

Mahomes looks to use this momentum into next Monday night’s match-up with division rival Las Vegas Raiders again in front of a national audience.
