Back in September, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, pledged to support the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park renovation on Swope Parkway and Woodland Avenue. The goal was to create a state-of-the-art and all-inclusive playground for children and families in Kansas City to enjoy.
Now, Mahomes and his foundation have announced a way that everybody can get involved in supporting the park. On Monday, they announced a legacy brick project which will allow members of the community to create a personalized brick that will be featured in a special section of the park.
“I’m really excited about this project because it perfectly aligns with the mission of the foundation to bring all kids together in a healthy and safe way to just be kids,” said Patrick Mahomes, via a press release. “I hope this is a project that the Kansas City community can rally around and enjoy for a long time.”
Supporters who purchase a brick will be able to inscribe a custom message, with five different styles of bricks available for purchase. 15 and the Mahomies envision this as a great way to get the entire community involved in the project.
“We want this play site to truly be a community project that individuals, families and organizations can be a part of and will be proud of for generations,” Marques Fitch, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Director said, via a press release. “We created this legacy brick project to help encourage full community participation, in addition to Patrick Mahomes’ personal commitment and the foundation as a whole.”
There is a limited supply of bricks available and the deadline to be a part of this legacy project is May 26, 2021.
