The Kansas City Chiefs have finally snapped their losing streak at home, beating a tough Minnesota Vikings team to end the skid at three. The win took a team effort and some standout performances from some key players.
Here are your Week 9 Players of the Game for the Chiefs:
Offensive Player of the Game: WR Tyreek Hill
Hill had one of his signature games filled with big plays and a long touchdown catch. He had six receptions for 140 yards, which included a 40-yard touchdown in the first quarter. This is the type of performance that the Chiefs hope for. It helps to make Matt Moore comfortable — all he needs to do is throw it up for one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and watch him work.
Defensive Player of the Game: DT Chris Jones
In his return from injury, Jones would get the Chiefs only sack of the day and consistently made Kirk Cousins uncomfortable. Jones also had a fantastic rush on the Vikings final that forced Cousins to get rid of the ball on third down, giving the Chiefs offense to get into field goal range for the win. Coming off an injury, this is the type of performance that will make Jones one the highest-paid players in the NFL this offseason.
Special Teams Player of the Game: K Harrison Butker
Butker was perfect on the day, going 2-for-2 on extra points and 4-for-4 on field goals, including the game-winner. Butker also had a big field goal late in the fourth quarter when the Chiefs were down 20-23. His 54-yard game-winner was his longest of the season and matched his career long. It’s nice to see Butker be clutch two times late in the fourth quarter when the Chiefs really needed a win.
