Chiefs plan to ‘Light Up Arrowhead’ with new mobile app feature

If you’re heading to Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday Night Football to see the Kansas City Chiefs face the Indianapolis Colts, you’ll have a chance to be a part of a cool moment.

On Monday, the Chiefs announced, “Light Up Arrowhead,” which is described as a fan-driven light show using smartphones. Basically, the Chiefs Mobile App will turn your phone into a light for the show. During the pregame festivities, when the Chiefs’ cheerleaders are on the field, fans will be prompted to take out their phones and open up the Chiefs Mobile App. There will be a message in the app telling fans to, “join the light show.”

In order to participate, you need to download the Chiefs Mobile App on your Android or Apple smartphone. You can go to the Chiefs’ official website to see some videos on how you can install the app and set it up on your phone. You’ll need to give the Chiefs Mobile App permissions to use your microphone because the light show will actually be triggered by in-stadium audio. It’d be even cooler if it was triggered by 142.2 dB of crowd noise, but I digress.

If you’re planning to attend the game be sure to charge your phones and download the app ahead of time. It should make for a pretty unique pregame experience at Arrowhead Stadium.
