Chiefs P Dustin Colquitt named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 7

Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt has been named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 7 of the 2019 season.

The award recognizes NFL players that make a positive impact on their communities. Each player recognized will become eligible to receive the NFLPA Alan Page Community (APC) Award at the end of the 2019 season.

Colquitt is being recognized for his involvement with TeamSmile and hosting an annual event during which kids receive free dental care. Over 300 kids from the Kansas City area received free dental care in the most recent event which took place at Arrowhead Stadium last week. Check out this video below on the event:

Colquitt has been a long-time supporter of the TeamSmile non-profit, working with them for over 10 years to help kids feel comfortable about their dental hygiene. Some Chiefs players even jumped in the dental chair this past week in order to help kids feel more comfortable.

Last season, Colquitt wore TeamSmile cleats for the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign. At the end of the season, Colquitt was the Chiefs’ nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his work in the community. TeamSmile was his charity of choice had he won the award.

This is the Chiefs second community MVP award for the 2019 season, with defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi earning the award in Week 1. Perhaps we could see even more Chiefs players named community MVP winners before the 2019 season comes to an end.
