Chiefs P Dustin Colquitt ascends to No. 10 in all-time punting yards

Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt isn’t just a good guy who makes helps kids smile, he’s also a heck of a football player.

A week after he was named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 7, Colquitt has cemented himself among some of the best punters to ever play. Colquitt had three punts against the Packers during the Chiefs’ Week 8 loss. They all landed within the 20-yard line and totaled 154 yards.

The yardage total in Week 8 moved Colquitt into the top 10 in NFL history in punting yardage with 49,387 net yards. Take a look:

He passed former Packers and Titans great Craig Hentrich to become the No. 10 punter all-time. If Colquitt can repeat his performance in Week 9 against the Vikings, he’ll have a chance to pass ex-Colt Rohn Stark to take the No. 9 spot. If he’s lucky, he could be No. 8 all-time by the end of the season.

Colquitt is worthy of Hall of Fame consideration when his career finally comes to an end. He’s continuing to build a strong case for being one of the greatest punters in NFL history, not only with his play on the field but with his contributions off it in the Kansas City community.
