Chiefs OC Matt Nagy attends Penn State pro day

The Kansas City Chiefs have a coordinator representing the team at the Penn State University pro day in University Park, Pennsylvania

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was spotted among those in attendance for the Penn State pro day. He was pictured chopping it up with Manheim Township head coach Mark Evans. Nagy, of course, played quarterback at Manheim Central High School in Manheim, Pennsylvania, which is only about two hours away from Penn State.

Check it out:

Now, this visit could simply be a return to an area that he’s familiar with. It’s also possible that it denotes the team having some extra interest in a prospect from Penn State. It’s notable, given that the Chiefs don’t typically send position coaches or coordinators to pro days. This is the second time it has happened this offseason, along with Joe Cullen attending and running drills at the University of Georgia pro day.

Here’s a list of the players in attendance for the pro day:

  • CB Joey Porter Jr.
  • S Ji’Ayir Brown
  • WR Parker Washington
  • WR Mitch Tinsley
  • TE Brenton Strange
  • QB Sean Clifford
  • DT PJ Mustipher
  • DE Nick Tarburton
  • IOL Juice Scruggs
  • LB Jonathan Sutherland
  • K Jake Pinegar
  • P Barney Amor
  • LS Chris Stoll

Being that Nagy is an offensive coach, you can probably rule out the majority of the defenders. That leaves Washington, Tinsely, Strange, Clifford and Scruggs. Tinsley is actually a Kansas City native, playing high school football at Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Washington and Strange could both be intriguing options for Kansas City in their own right. Strange could be an understudy for Kelce and Washington could help replace some of the skill set the team lost in JuJu Smith-Schuster.
