Chiefs make trade for DE Frank Clark official

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially announced the trade with the Seattle Seahawks for defensive end Frank Clark.

The details of the trade remain as they were when the trade was first reported: The Chiefs give up the No. 29 pick in tonight’s first round and a second-round pick in 2020; the teams swap third-round picks in this year’s draft, which places the Chiefs at No. 82.

“We were able to reach an agreement with the Seahawks that we felt was mutually beneficial,” Chiefs GM Brett Veach said in the team press release. “I’d like to thank Frank’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, and his team for their effort in making this happen. We believe Frank is a premier player in this league and an elite pass rusher. In his four seasons in Seattle, he established himself as a leader in the locker room, and we’re looking forward to bringing him here to help our defense.”

It’s clear that the Chiefs think very highly of Clark’s abilities as a player on the field, but also his leadership ability in the locker room.

“We’re happy to add Frank to our team,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said in the team press release. “Competing against him and watching his film, you can see how physical and impressive he is in both the run and the pass game. He’s young and has consistently played at a high level since he entered the league. Congrats to Brett and his team, as well as Frank’s representatives on getting this deal done.”

An introductory press conference for Clark is scheduled for Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
