Chiefs LB Darron Lee questionable to return vs. 49ers with chest injury

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered an injury to a player they made a trade for this offseason.

The Chiefs acquired linebacker Darron Lee in a trade with the New York Jets. He had been playing with the second-team defense and competing at the WILL linebacker position for the Chiefs. He looked to have already locked down a role as a subpackage linebacker too.

Lee combined for a tackle Daniel Sorensen late in the second quarter. He came out of the game briefly and was spotted on the sideline getting patted on the back by his teammates. It appears he won’t be returning to the game.

The Chiefs are calling the injury to Lee a chest injury. Again he came off the field under his own power and didn’t appear to be in any visible pain.

The good news is that Lee has not been ruled out of the game. Typically if they rule you out of the game in Kansas City it’s a serious injury. The fact that he’s questionable is a good indication that this isn’t something that will keep him out for an extended period of time.

Nonetheless, we’ll find out more from Andy Reid after the game.
