Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens questionable to return vs. Colts with groin injury

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered another injury but this time on the defensive side of the ball.

Linebacker Anthony Hitchens appeared to be slowed by something during the first defensive drive, pulling up on a few different plays when he was in pursuit. After he went to the sideline the broadcast crew on NBC noticed he spent a significant amount of time in the blue trainer’s tent. That’s never good news as it relates to an injury. Shortly after his absence was noticed, the Chiefs announced that Hitchens was questionable to return to the game with a groin injury.

Check it out:

This might not be the worst thing for the Chiefs, they currently have the 31st ranked run defense in the NFL, giving up a ton of yardage on the ground through the first four weeks of the season. Some fresh blood at the linebacker position could help the Chiefs jump-start an underperforming unit.

I wouldn’t expect Hitchens to return to the game unless injury runs rampant in the LB group. For now, he’s probably only available in the event of emergencies.

Update:

Hitchens has officially been ruled out for the rest of the game.
