Chiefs land former Jags RB Carlos Hyde

It didn’t take long for former Jacksonville Jaguars tailback Carlos Hyde to find work as he’s already put pen to paper on a new contract. A day after being released by the organization, he’s found a new team with the Kansas City Chiefs through a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport added to the news by reporting that the deal is one worth just under $3 million.

Hyde, 28, joined the Jags after being traded to them for a fifth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns last October. His brief tenure with the team was a forgettable one as the Jags struggled to find enough snaps for him despite Leonard Fournette being injured. However, when he was on the field it was still a struggle due to the Jags’ offensive line injuries, which resulted in Hyde only accumulating 52 attempts for 189 yards and no touchdowns.

Due to his struggles and displeasure with his usage, the Jags ultimately decided they needed to move on, which freed up roughly $4.7 million in cap space for the team. Now, he’ll get a fresh start with the Chiefs, who are a championship caliber team, which made the deal a no-brainer for Hyde.
