The Kansas City Chiefs continue Phase 3 of the offseason workout program on Tuesday, June 6 with their third and final of week of OTAs. The first of four practices will take place just a day after the team visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LVII victory.
The Chiefs completed their second week of OTAs last Thursday as OTAs are only permitted during weekdays. Keep in mind that OTAs are still entirely voluntary. Only around 80 players were in attendance at the practice session open to media members last week.
Padded practices and live contact are still forbidden during this phase of the offseason program. Team drills such as 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 are permitted. These practices serve as an opportunity for rookies and veterans alike to get on the practice field and build chemistry. It helps some of the newcomers learn the ropes and set a really strong foundation for the work they’ll do at training camp in July and August.
As for this week’s media availability, you can expect to hear from Andy Reid on Friday following the final OTA practice session. He’ll wrap things up before the team’s first mandatory practice sessions of the offseason at mandatory minicamp.
