Chiefs head into bye week with no new injuries after win over 49ers

The Kansas City Chiefs escaped their Week 7 win over the San Francisco 49ers without the injury bug striking them.

At one point during the course of the game, Chiefs DE Carlos Dunlap had to be helped off the field by VP of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder. He’d later return to the game, seemingly unphased by whatever ailment forced him off the field.

After the game concluded, Andy Reid opened up his press conference proclaiming he had no new injuries to report. Instead, he offered some good news about some defenders that missed the Week 7 game against the 49ers.

“I really don’t have any injuries to mention here,” Reid said following the game. “We should be on a positive note (Mike) Danna, (Trent) McDuffie and (Rashad) Fenton — we have a chance to get back this next week here. It is a bye week, I got it, but we get them back when we get back (from the bye week).”

CB Trent McDuffie, CB Rashad Fenton and DE Mike Danna are each expected back healthy following the bye week. Danna has been battling a calf injury suffered in Week 2 and saw a setback after playing 25 snaps in Week 6 against the Bills. Fenton has missed the past two weeks with a hamstring injury. McDuffie, of course, remains on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Reid made no mention of OT Lucas Niang, who is on the Reserve/PUP list with a knee injury. He also made no mention of TE Blake Bell who is on injured reserve with a hip injury. Reid’s last comments about the two players suggested they were expected back at some point after the bye week, but perhaps not immediately after.
