Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides injury updates ahead of Wednesday practice

The Kansas City Chiefs will have their first practice of the week ahead of their Week 11 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Andy Reid provided his typical pre-practice injury update to the media on Wednesday. He revealed that the team is fairly healthy, with only one player set to be absent from practice to start the week.

“As far as the injuries go, just Lucas (Niang) won’t practice today,” Reid said. “Everybody else will be at practice.”

Niang suffered a rib injury in the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers. He missed last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, paving the way for Andrew Wylie to make a start at right tackle. With Mike Remmers on injured reserve, it could trend toward another start from Wylie this week if Niang is unable to return to practice.

As for the forthcoming return of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who remains on injured reserve with an MCL sprain, Reid suggested the team could hold him out another week.

“Yeah, I mean there is a chance we go that direction,” Reid said. “We’re just looking to see how he does this week. You know, we’ll go from there. If we feel like he’s not ready, then we won’t put him in there.”

Opting for an extra two weeks of recovery could be the smart move here. Should Edwards-Helaire prove healthy and spry in practice this week, the team won’t hesitate to activate him with a big Week 11 game on the horizon.
