Chiefs had 2 of the fastest players in NFL during Week 3

The Kansas City Chiefs sported two of the fastest players in football during Sunday’s Week 3 win over the Ravens.

Third-string RB Darrel Williams reached a top speed of 20.88 mph on his 41-yard rush. He came in at No. 5 in the top-5 fastest players, which makes sense considering he was caught from behind on the play. It’s still pretty impressive for a big guy that is listed at 5-feet-11 and 224 pounds to get moving that quickly. If he keeps it up, they might make him an honorary member of the Legion of Zoom.

The next player to make the list won’t exactly shock you. Chiefs’ rookie WR Mecole Hardman hit a top speed of 21.74 mph on his explosive 83-yard touchdown catch. That came in as the No. 1 speed during Week 5 and it was the fastest speed on a scoring play for the entire week.

We all knew that Hardman was fast when the Chiefs drafted him but this type of speed rivals what fans have seen from WR Tyreek Hill. If you look back at the 2018 season, Hill recorded two of the fastest speeds the NFL saw for the whole season and they both came in Week 1 vs. the Chargers:

  • 91-yard punt return – 21.78 mph
  • 58-yard TD catch – 21.95 mph

Hardman’s 83-yard run was just a four centisecond difference from Hill’s second-fastest speed in 2018. As I suggested during the game, Hardman looks to be just as fast as Hill, and now we have proof. It’s scary to think of what they both might be capable of when Hill gets healthy and they finally see the field together later this season.
