We don’t know exactly when it will take place or what it will look like, but preparations for Kansas City Chiefs training camp are already underway in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Chiefs head groundskeeper Travis Hogan recently posted a video of his team at work at the practice fields at the Missouri Western State University campus. They’re doing what is called a “fraze mow” on the grass practice fields. Basically, what that does is remove any detrimental organic matter that has accumulated on the top layer of the grass during the cold weather months. That organic matter prevents positive growth when the weather warms up.

This seemed to be a top priority for the team now that the team facility has been allowed to reopen.
There remains plenty of uncertainty surrounding training camp amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Players aren’t sure what it will look like this year. It doesn’t seem likely that fans will be allowed to attend with current restrictions in place. But this certainly is a great sign that at least some version of training camp will take place for the Chiefs.
This summer will mark the 11th season that the team will have done training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, and at least for the time being the team is preparing as if it will happen and happen on time.
