Chiefs favored over Texans despite poor showing in Week 5

The Kansas City Chiefs (4-1) will face off against the Houston Texans (3-2) at Arrowhead Stadium during Week 6 of the NFL season.

It’ll be the second consecutive home game for the Chiefs and the first game this season where the team is coming off of a loss. Kansas City scored their fewest points in a single game with Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback with just 13 points scored in Week 5. They’re also still reeling with injuries from their matchup with the Colts. At the same time, the Texans are flying high after scoring over 50 points against the Falcons.

Despite a poor showing all around for the Chiefs in Week 5, the oddsmakers in Vegas see them as clear favorites.

According to BetMGM, the Chiefs are 6.5-point favorites heading into Sunday’s game against Texans. The opening money line is at -250 for Kansas City and +200 for Houston. The opening over/under point total currently rests at 55.5 points.

The key concern for the Chiefs in this game has to be protecting Mahomes. He already reaggravated the ankle injury that slowed him earlier this season. They need to ensure that he has the time to get the ball out and make plays. That’ll be hard to do with injuries to the entire left side of the offensive line.

The Texans are tied for the AFC South division lead with the Colts and they’ll look to keep pace in Week 6. Their offense looked about as explosive as it comes against the Falcons in Week 5. With all the injuries for the Chiefs, it might be Kansas City that is trying to play catch up with Houston in this game.
