Chiefs extend training camp deal at Missouri Western State University

The reigning Super Bowl champions have extended their deal with Missouri Western State University, keeping Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Chiefs have agreed to terms on a three-year deal securing the Chiefs’ training camp home through the 2022 season.

The agreement includes an option to extend the partnership an additional two years after 2022. Chiefs President Mark Donovan released a statement regarding the new deal and hopes moving forward with the St. Joseph’s community.

“We are thrilled to announce that we will return to Missouri Western State University and the St. Joseph community this summer, and that we will remain there for the foreseeable future. Our team researched and reviewed a number of viable options over the past six months.  Through those meetings and discussions, we unanimously decided to return to St. Joseph. I want to thank President Matt Wilson and Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Josh Looney for their leadership throughout this process and we look forward to starting our 2020 season at Missouri Western again this summer.”

The Chiefs are entering their 11th straight year on the campus of Missouri Western State University. Missouri Western is thrilled to have the Super Bowl champions calling the campus, their home away from home. St. Joseph is the third-longest tenured training camp location in the franchise’s storied history.

Kansas City is one of the last remaining NFL teams that go away from team facilities for training camp. Since 2010 the Chiefs have called the area home and it has been an essential part of team development before the start of each season.
